Open-Source Project
Nekomo is an open-source project maintained by its community. It does not host, store, upload, or distribute media content of any kind. The project consists of an Android / Android TV client application and this informational website.
No Servers or Sources
Nekomo does not operate, own, maintain, or control:
Nekomo ships with no sources installed. An optional official repository lists only free and legal sources and is installed only if the user adds it and confirms. Any other repository or extension is found, added and installed by the user.
- streaming servers;
- content providers or streaming sources;
- download providers;
- third-party hosted content of any kind.
The app does not ship with any catalogue of copyrighted works. Any media a user watches is delivered from third-party services that the user (or an extension the user installed) connects to.
Third-Party Data
Any metadata, images, artwork, descriptions, or other information displayed through Nekomo-related applications may originate from third-party APIs or external services. Nekomo does not control and is not responsible for this content.
No Affiliation
Nekomo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to AniList, MyAnimeList, Kitsu, TMDb, CloudStream, or any other content provider, service, or extension author unless explicitly stated otherwise.
All content, trademarks, copyrights, logos, names, and other intellectual property belong to their respective owners.
User Responsibility
Users are responsible for how they use the software and for complying with all applicable laws and regulations in their jurisdiction, including copyright law. Do not use Nekomo to access content you do not have the right to access.
Extensions & Third-Party Plugins
Nekomo can load optional extensions written by independent developers. Nekomo does not author, review, host, or endorse these extensions, and is not responsible for the content or sites they access. Concerns about a specific extension or the site it reaches should be directed to that extension’s author and to the website actually hosting the material.
Background Music & External Links
This website offers an optional background music player (off by default, toggled in the site settings panel). By default it plays a track hosted on YouTube via YouTube’s own embedded player — we do not host, rip, or redistribute any audio file ourselves, and playback is subject to YouTube’s Terms of Service.
The player also lets you paste in your own YouTube link to replace the default track. You are solely responsible for making sure you have the right or permission to play whatever link you choose. Copyright licensing varies by track, artist, and region — Nekomo does not vet, endorse, or take responsibility for user-supplied music links, and we can remove this feature or any specific link at any time.
More broadly, this site links out to third-party websites, apps, and communities (GitHub, Discord, Telegram, alternative anime apps, etc.). We don’t control those destinations and aren’t responsible for their content, availability, or policies — visit them at your own discretion.
DMCA Notice Procedure
Nekomo respects intellectual property rights and responds to valid notices relating to materials that Nekomo actually hosts. That is limited to this website, its images, and files in the Nekomo-App GitHub repositories.
Content on third-party sites cannot be removed by us. If your work is hosted somewhere else, please send your notice to the host or provider of that site, or to the search engine or platform that links to it. We cannot take down what we do not host, own, or control.
What to include in a notice
To be valid under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice must be written and include:
- a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
- identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list if multiple works);
- identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it — for example, the exact URL on this website or the exact file/path in our repository;
- your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.
Where to send it
Contact a maintainer through one of these channels. To protect your privacy, please do not post personal details publicly; ask for a private channel first and send the full notice there.
- Discord — message a server admin or open a ticket, and mention “DMCA notice”.
- Telegram — message a group admin and mention “DMCA notice”.
- GitHub issue — open an issue titled “DMCA notice” with the URLs concerned only, and ask for a private channel to send the remainder. You can also use GitHub’s own DMCA process for repository content.
What happens next
We review notices in good faith. If a valid notice relates to material we host, we will promptly remove or disable access to it and may forward the notice (with your details) to the person who posted it. Incomplete notices or notices about content we do not host may receive no action beyond a reply explaining why.
Counter-Notice
If material you posted was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice through the same channels containing:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material removed and where it appeared before removal;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice.
We may forward the counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not notify us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.
Repeat Infringers
In appropriate circumstances, we will restrict or ban users of our community spaces and contributors who are repeat infringers.
Misrepresentations
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. Please make sure your notice is accurate before sending it.
Trademarks & Brand Concerns
Names, logos, and artwork of anime, studios, publishers, and services referenced in the app or on this site belong to their respective owners and are used only for identification. If you believe a trademark or image is used improperly on this website, use the notice process above and we will look into it.
Disclaimer of Liability
Nekomo and its contributors provide the software “as is” and accept no responsibility for how third parties use it, for any content reachable through third-party sources or extensions, or for any loss or damage arising from its use. See also the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
